I've always enjoyed working in the kitchen. There is just something magical about taking a bunch of singular ingredients and combining them to create a sweet or savory concoction.

However, like many of my colleagues in the culinary world, my path to the kitchen professionally wasn't exactly direct. In December 1999, I graduated from the University of Connecticut with a Bachelors of Science degree in business administration. Although my first few jobs kept me in the nutmeg state of Connecticut, it wasn't long before I found myself moving to the garden state of New Jersey -- first for love, & then for what was to be nine years in various corporate marketing jobs in New York City.

In December 2004, I graduated from The French Culinary Institute & started making cakes, chocolates, & other confections for friends, family, & coworkers, & Sweet Element was born!

Creating delectable, unique works of pastry artistry has been & continues to be my passion. I find it extremely rewarding to work side by side with my clients to find out exactly what they are looking for in taste, texture, & appearance. Whether it be a box of artisan handmade chocolates or an elaborate five-foot-long coffin cake to celebrate the passing of one's 20's -- it's the end product of satisfying the palates and bringing smiles to the faces of all who get a taste of what Sweet Element and I can offer. --Jen Roberts, Sweet Element Pastry Chef & Owner
